What inspired you to dedicate your career to helping people with diabetes (or metabolic health)?
What inspired you to dedicate your career to helping people with diabetes (or metabolic health)?
My career began in cardiology, drawn early by a curiosity about cardiac physiology. But after more than a decade of interventional work, I kept noticing the same upstream story behind so many of the patients I treated. Diabetes. Metabolic disease. The cardiovascular event was often the late chapter of a story that began years earlier in glucose, blood pressure, and weight. Joining Heald let me move that work upstream. Helping members manage the metabolic side before it becomes the cardiac event I would otherwise see in the cath lab.

The most important cardiology happens upstream of what I do in the cath lab. By the time someone needs an intervention, the metabolic story has been writing itself for years. My principle is to read the upstream signals carefully while there is still time. A stable blood pressure trend, a normalized lipid panel, a glucose curve moving the right direction. Those matter more than any procedure I could perform later."

Outside of your professional role, what brings you joy or keeps you grounded?
Anything that takes me out of clinical mode. Long walks, time with family, the things that reset the pace. Cardiology rewards patience, and patience is harder to keep when life moves fast. The grounding habits are not optional. They are how I show up the next day.
