Our bodies operate on a circadian rhythm that influences everything from digestion to healing. Understanding these cycles—digestive, repair, and fight or flight—can help optimize our health. Discover how balancing these stages through consistent routines can keep your body in sync and functioning at its best.

Our bodies run on a Circadian Rhythm, which can adapt to individual patterns—some of us are early risers, while others aren’t, and there’s no need for guilt for being either. This internal clock governs many bodily functions, like the release of Melatonin, Ghrelin, HGH, and other hormones.
Ever wondered why you feel the need to use the bathroom at a certain time or get hungry for breakfast around 8 AM? It’s all part of this rhythm.
The body cycles through three key stages:
Digestive Stage – This is when your body focuses on processing food, (Did you Notice?) Often leaving you feeling sluggish after a meal, as energy is directed toward digestion.
Body Repair – Mostly during sleep, the body heals itself by cleaning up dead cells, damaged proteins, and foreign particles. This is why the old saying holds true: "When you’re sick, get some sleep."
Fight or Flight – A temporary state triggered by Stress, like an argument or a physical challenge. While necessary for survival, it diverts attention away from digestion and repair. But it should remain brief—prolonged stress, such as constant worry about work or relationships, disrupts both digestion and healing.
These states can’t function simultaneously. When fight or flight activates, it suppresses digestion and immune repair. Your circadian rhythm, the body’s natural clock, balances digestion and repair, with fight or flight acting as a disruptor.
Have you ever thought about - when do we allow our bodies time to heal and recover?
As we age, it becomes increasingly clear that establishing consistent routines & habits (Click here to know more on how we are doing it ) helps keep this clock in sync for optimal function.
My personal curiosity, driven by spirituality, is in understanding Homeostasis (More on this later…) and the wiring of the Nervous system in all of this. Just as scientists are exploring the idea that all energy forms are connected, I’m researching how the body’s functions are deeply tied to the nervous system. I may not reach a definitive answer, but I’m eager to see how much I uncover along the way.
